Permission to Self Check-In or Out
Oxford is a great town for kids!
We are happy to support a caregiver’s decision to encourage older students to provide their own transportation to and/or from an activity. As with any privilege, this freedom carries with it certain responsibilities and limitations:
- A parent or guardian may give permission for students aged 11 to 17 to sign themselves in and/or out of class without an adult.
- The Oxford Community Arts Center and the Instructor will only supervise each student during the scheduled class time.
- Students with permission to sign themselves out of class will not be able to do so before the scheduled end of class. If the student needs to leave class early, an approved pick-up adult must provide transportation.
- Students who arrive before class time or remain after the end of class are welcome to look at the art exhibits and/or use our public areas as unsupervised members of the public. Public spaces on the first floor are limited to hallways, art galleries, and the Killy Library.
- Instructors need time before class to prepare the space and after class to clean up. We ask that students do not plan to spend time in the Art Education Room before check-in or after sign-out.
Therefore:
I understand that my child will be permitted to leave the OCAC premises. As a result, I am assuming full responsibility for my child’s safety since no one from the OCAC will know where my child went after they leave the art center premises.
I understand and agree that the Oxford Community Arts Center (“OCAC”), its Board, employees, instructors, and agents are not responsible, nor does the OCAC assume liability for any injuries, losses, or damages related to and/or resulting from my decision to have my child leave OCAC grounds unescorted. As such, I accept full responsibility for any injury, loss, or damage which may occur in connection with the release of my child from OCAC grounds unescorted. I hereby indemnify, release and hold the Board, its officers, employee, instructors, and agents harmless from any liability, loss, damage, claims, or actions, including reimbursement of reasonable attorney’s fees, that may arise out of and in connection with my decision to authorize my child to leave OCAC grounds unescorted.
