Bruce Murray Concerts

Summer Concerts with Bruce Murray

Enjoy an exceptional evening of piano music with Bruce Murray, Professor of Music at Miami University, in this free three-part summer concert series. Known for his expressive interpretations and engaging presence, Murray brings deep artistry and insight to every performance.

Concerts begin at 6:00 p.m. in the Brant Ballroom at the Oxford Community Arts Center. Each evening explores a distinct theme, offering something unique for returning and first-time audiences alike.

Concert Schedule:

Monday, June 9All Classical
The theme of the program is humor, or at least good humor, and the program includes sonatas by Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven, plus a bonus prelude and fugue from The Short-Tempered Clavier by the immortal P.D.Q. Bach.

Monday, June 23Almost Ambient
The concert explores music without the usual sense of drama and narrative prevalent in classical music; music that is reflective and focused on pure beauty. The program spans the past four centuries and includes works by Rameau, Chopin, Liszt, Satie, and others. This is an hour-long antidote to the tumult of modern life.

Monday, July 7Salon-ish
Inspired by the legendary Parisian salons of Princess Belgiojoso, where Liszt might play a tune and Victor Hugo might recite a poem. A celebration of music, imagination, and gathering.

All concerts are free and open to the public. Seating is first come, first served.
