A New Year of Creativity is Growing
in the OCAC Children's Garden!
Our newest programming for The Children’s Garden is yearlong series of hands-on, family-friendly experiences designed to connect art, culture, and nature.
Developed in partnership with the Culture Crops program designed by the Richard and Carole Cox Art Museum at Miami University and the Myaamia Center, the program draws inspiration from seasonal cycles and garden-based learning. Each month features a different activity, encouraging curiosity, creativity, and connection through art-making, storytelling, and interactive exploration.
Programs evolve throughout the year, offering fresh ways for children and families to engage with shared themes of community and the natural world.
Friday, April 24: Three Sisters Workshop
FREE Activity, Registration Required
Kids listen to a story about gardening using the Three Sisters method (planting of corn, beans, and squash), led by Yvonne Rice. After the story, participants decorate miniature sister houses using natural materials and craft elements that reflect the themes of cooperation and support found in the Three Sisters planting. Children will be invited to imagine where their houses might live, in or near the garden, and how each “sister” plant helps the others grow.
